Graphics 27. Duality. Openness –  Conservatism (2025)
Openness — Conservatism is a work about the coexistence of openness to the new and the inner protection of already formed values as two equally valid ways of engaging with the world.
In this work, openness and conservatism are not positioned as ideological or character-based extremes. They appear as parallel life strategies arising from a shared need — to preserve inner coherence within a changing environment. Openness is linked to curiosity, receptivity, and a willingness to engage with uncertainty. Conservatism relates to the need for protection, preservation, and holding onto what has already been built.
The bodily language makes this duality tangible: one figure reaches outward, symbolizing movement, expansion, and contact; the other curls inward, forming a closed, protective shape. These are not conflicting positions, but complementary states that activate alternately depending on inner and external conditions.
The geometric structure of the work creates a space in which these qualities can coexist without hierarchy. Here, duality does not require resolution — it is held as part of a single process of adaptation, growth, and self-preservation.
