“Self-Talk” examines internal multiplicity — the coexistence of many inner voices, selves, and cognitive patterns that together form the architecture of the psyche.
The work considers thought not as a single stream but as a layered phenomenon: a quiet flow aligned with consciousness; sudden illuminations that disrupt perception; shadows that resist acknowledgment; and intrusive sequences that colonize mental space. These differing thought-forms coexist within a psychological ecosystem that is both generative and destabilizing.
By invoking the metaphor of conversation — between selves, between states, between fragments of identity — the piece frames introspection as both a tool for understanding and a source of tension. Some dialogues lead to clarity; others spiral into repetition. Some selves collaborate; others oppose one another.
Through geometric structure and symbolic composition, the work maps the emotional topography of inner speech and invites viewers to consider the deeper question: How many versions of “self” inhabit the mind, and how do their conversations shape the person we become?
